Project for Public Spaces’ Great Neighborhood Book Launch Party

11:05 PM EDT on May 31, 2007

A celebration with great neighborhood stories, wine and cheese, and live music to promote The Great Neighborhood Book: A Do-It-Yourself Guide to Placemaking by Jay Walljasper.

Author Jay Walljasper will introduce The Great Neighborhood Book, followed by real-life success stories from New Yorkers who have improved their neighborhoods (including East NY Farms, the Hester Street Collaborative, and the Forsyth Street Garden Conservancy).

The Great Neighborhood Book: A Do-It Yourself Guide to Placemaking is a Project for Public Spaces Book written by Jay Walljasper (Executive Editor of Ode Magazine) and published by New Society Publishers. Selected as Bette Midler's top book pick for "Bette's Bookcorner" this May, the book will be on sale at the event and in all major bookstores in early June. It joins The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces and How To Turn a Place Around in the PPS library of publications that explore a place-based approach to improving neighborhoods.

Project for Public Spaces kindly thanks the Cobble Hill Association, The Book Court, Smith & Vine, Stinky Cheese and Christ Church for their support of this event.
