Here’s everything you need to know about Streetsblog’s 20th anniversary block party. (Last updated on May 20, 2026):

Date: Saturday, June 30, 2026
Time: 3-7 p.m.
Location: 31st Avenue between 34th and 35th streets in Astoria (opposite Diamond Dogs [map])

Description: Join the staff of Streetsblog, plus original editor Aaron Naparstek, as we mark the 20th anniversary — and the enduring legacy — of the city’s most-important transportation website in the only way we know how: a street party!

Over the course of its 20 years, Streetsblog has covered the livable streets movement through its many fights, but one North Star has always stood out: the fight to reduce the domination of the car so that New Yorkers can have good transit, great bus lanes and bike lanes that are truly the envy of the world.

And great public space is a key part of that. So that’s why we’re celebrating on the 31st Avenue open street, a delightful public space that shows what’s possible when we grab back public space from car drivers and give it to the people and businesses that make our city thrive.

There will be a few short speeches, but mostly a great time, with music by Ghost Rodeo and a special performance of Jimmy and the Jaywalkers’ hit, “Criminal Mischief,” which has never been performed live.
