This Week: Jamaica Bay Greenway, Vision Zero in Manhattan

This week's livable streets calendar features workshops on the Jamaica Bay Greenway and talks by experts on transportation politics in San Francisco and future rail investments in the Northeast Corridor.

    • Tuesday: Join NYC DOT and the Regional Plan Association for the second in a series of community workshops asking for public input on the Jamaica Bay Greenway. Tonight's workshop is in Rockaway Park at 6:30 p.m.
    • Also Tuesday: Brooklyn Community Board 8's transportation committee will discuss a bike corral at 636 Carlton Avenue and parking enforcement around Barclays Center on event nights. 7:00 p.m.
    • More Tuesday: Queens CB 5's transportation committee will discuss progress on public plazas in the Middle Village area, as well as traffic safety issues and requests. 7:00 p.m.
    • Wednesday: Join DOT, Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Transportation Committee Chair Ydanis Rodriguez, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer and a host of council members for a Manhattan Vision Zero forum. 6:00 p.m.
    • Thursday: Jason Henderson, author of Street Fight: The Politics of Mobility in San Francisco, discusses his book and research interests at the CUNY Graduate Center. 5:30 p.m.
    • Also Thursday: Council Member Laurie Cumbo hosts a Vision Zero town hall meeting with DOT. 6:00 p.m.
    • Friday: Rebecca Reyes-Alicea, Northeast Corridor project manager at the Federal Railroad Administration, speaks at an event hosted by the University Transportation Research Center on future investments planned for the nation's busiest rail corridor. 2:00 p.m.
