No Charges for Commuter Van Driver Who Killed Khavir Ahmed in Jamaica
Ahmed, 84, was crossing 168th Place by 88th Avenue at around 10:30 a.m. when the motorist turned left from 88th and struck him, according to police. As the crash was described by police, Ahmed had the right of way, but no charges have been filed yet against the 32-year-old driver.

City Hall can move ahead with the redesign without a community board vote in favor. It's simply cruel to keep in place dangerous crossings with high-speed traffic when a better design is ready to go and so many people have campaigned for safer conditions for so long.

Eyes on the Street: New Pedestrian Islands on Northern Boulevard

A wide street by Cunningham Park and M.S. 74 in Windsor Park is slated for pedestrian safety improvements and a two-way protected bike lane alongside the park. The Queens Community Board 11 transportation committee voted unanimously for the DOT plan last night.
