This Week: Flushing-Jamaica BRT, Bike Corral in LIC, CNU to NYC

Eastern Brooklyn and Queens rule the Streetsblog calendar this week. Make your voice heard as efforts move forward to improve street safety in the Rockaways, launch Select Bus Service between Flushing and Jamaica, and build a greenway in Canarsie along the Jamaica Bay shoreline.

Also, it’s not on the calendar, but if you live in Long Island City or environs and want more on-street bike parking, now is the time to send a letter to Queens Community Board 1 supporting a bike corral by Dutch Kills Centraal on 29th Street. The community board is expected to weigh in on the bike corral next week.

• Tuesday: Join the Rockaway Waterfront Alliance for the second of two workshops to develop a traffic safety plan for the area beneath the elevated A train. 6 p.m.
• Also Tuesday: DOT and MTA are hosting a workshop to discuss the potential for Select Bus Service between Flushing and Jamaica. 6 p.m.
• More Tuesday: A DOT workshop in Canarsie will gather ideas for the Jamaica Bay Greenway Implementation Plan. 6:30 p.m.
• Wednesday: On the agenda for the City Council Transportation Committee: a bill that would act on state legislation allowing New York City to lower its default speed limit to 25 mph. 10 a.m.
• Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: The Congress for the New Urbanism is hosting its Transportation Reform Summit in New York — three days of talks, discussions, tours, and working meetings. Registration required.
