Teen Driver Runs Over Boy on Bike for Throwing Water Bottle

Screenshot via Cyclelicious

In a particularly heinous road rage incident last weekend, a 17-year-old girl in Sacramento intentionally rammed her car into a 13-year-old boy on a bike, hospitalizing him. What made this young woman fly into a murderous rage? Richard Masoner at Cyclelicious excerpted this report from the San Francisco Chronicle:

Witnesses told police that around 2 p.m. Sunday, the 13-year-old threw the bottle at the teen’s vehicle in Sacramento’s Arden Arcade area. That’s when the driver flipped a U-turn and gunned it for the boy.

Witnesses reported hearing the driver rev the engine and speed up before running over the boy on a neighbor’s lawn, crushing the bike and pinning the boy under the engine compartment between the front two tires.

I wonder where the driver, Isabelle Marie Salgado, would get the idea that this was an acceptable reaction? Here, by the way, was the top comment on that story at 10 a.m.

Salgado is being tried as an adult for assault with a deadly weapon, the Chronicle reports. Interesting that the police went with assault and not attempted murder.
