Brooklyn Heights: America’s First Suburb
Jane Jacobs and Lewis Mumford both lived in Brooklyn Heights, New York City’s first historic district, at one time, and both found virtues in “New York’s first suburb.”

Before he began blogging about land use and transportation, Aaron Donovan wrote The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund's annual fundraising appeal for three years and earned a master's degree in urban planning from Columbia.
