Take a Minute to Fax in Your Support for DOT’s 9th Street Plan

Crash counts show that 9th Street is one of the most dangerous streets in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

On March 29, DOT came before the transportation committee of Brooklyn Community Board 6 and put forward a plan to improve pedestrian safety, smooth out traffic flow and create bike lanes along Park Slope's 9th Street. From a Livable Streets perspective, it's a great plan.

Unfortunately, some residents of 9th Street are concerned that new bike lanes on 9th Street -- which has been an important route on the New York City bike map for years -- will somehow hinder their ability to double-park to load and unload their cars.

If you live or work within the boundaries of Community Board 6 or Park Slope, or if you use 9th Street as a pedestrian, motorist, cyclist or bus rider, please take just a minute to fax in your support for DOT's 9th Street plan. You need to do this before the close of business, Wednesday, April 11. That evening the full Community Board will meet to vote on the plan which, it should be noted, was approved by the Transportation Committee.
