In an otherwise fair piece about the debut of the draft NYC bike-share map, the New York Times opted for this sensationalized lede: "After months spent shrouded in secrecy and speculation, the locations of bike-share stations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens have arrived."

The Jackson Heights Plaza Photo the Times Doesn’t Want You to See
Gotta hand it to the Times for some devious photo editing in today's Metro section. Check out the barren seating and shuttered storefronts in the shot that accompanies Sarah Maslin Nir's two-sides-to-every-story piece on the new Jackson Heights plaza. That plaza must really be a failure, right?

CBS 2 Reporter Files Dispatch on Pedestrian Deaths While Driving Distracted
The distracted drivers over at CBS 2 News have outdone themselves. Even when the topic turns to pedestrian fatalities and the script does a decent job of describing the problem, the genius producers who brought you "Mobile 2" make their reporters file from a roving deathtrap with a satellite link.

In Other News, Times of London Pilots Unprecedented Cyclist Safety Program
The Times of London has launched what Dani Simons aptly calls a "nearly mind-blowing" pro-cycling campaign. Inspired by a crash that seriously injured a Times reporter, "Cities Fit for Cycling" is the kind of multifaceted public safety program that is normally the province of non-profit advocacy, right down to the eight-point manifesto that covers everything from education and street improvements to truck design.
