This Week: Election Day, TSTC Benefit, Amsterdam Avenue

It’s a busy week on the Streetsblog calendar, but here’s the most important thing: Don’t forget to vote tomorrow!

Here are the highlights from this week’s livable streets calendar:

• Monday: The NYU Rudin Center hosts a series of short talks about the future of transportation, covering everything from taxis and dollar vans to pedestrian wayfinding and safety. 6:30 p.m.
• Also Monday: DOT will present proposals to Manhattan Community Board 12’s transportation committee to improve safety at two intersections: Broadway at Riverside Drive and Dyckman Street, and Broadway at Nagle and Hillside Avenues. 7:00 p.m.
• More Monday: The agenda for Manhattan CB 6’s transportation committee includes discussion about enforcement of bicycle laws. 7:00 p.m.
• Tuesday: This election day, New Yorkers will choose a new mayor, public advocate, and comptroller, as well as new borough presidents, district attorneys and city council members. Voters will also decide the fate of six ballot measures. Use your address to locate your poll site from the Board of Elections.
• Wednesday: After clearing Manhattan CB 7’s transportation committee, the full board is expected to vote on a resolution to request complete street improvements from DOT on Amsterdam Avenue. 6:30 p.m.
• Also Wednesday: DOT will present proposed safety improvements in the Yorkville Safe Streets for Seniors program, including neckdowns, signal timing changes, and truck loading regulations, to Manhattan CB 8’s transportation committee. 7:00 p.m.
• Thursday: Tri-State Transportation Campaign is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a benefit honoring TSTC founding board members Richard Kassel, Charles Komanoff, James T.B. Tripp, and Jeffrey Zupan. 6:00 p.m.
• Also Thursday: Queens Community Board 2 is expected to hear a presentation from DOT and vote on a resolution in support of a plan to install bike lanes in Long Island City and Sunnyside. 7:00 p.m.
• Friday: Join Dr. Richard Willson for a discussion of his book, “Parking Reform Made Easy,” to learn about a 12-step parking requirement reform process with practical examples. 3:00 p.m.
