De Blasio Advances 111th Street Safety Plan: “The Right Thing to Do”
Mayor de Blasio gave the go-ahead to DOT's plan for a road diet, wider pedestrian medians, and a two-way protected bike lanes on 111th Street in Corona. The mayor made the announcement last night at a neighborhood town hall in response to a question from Vero Ramirez of Mujeres en Movimiento.

Queens CB 4 Member: No One Will Need Bike Lanes “Once Trump Removes the Illegals”
Ann Pfoser Darby, a long-time member of Queens Community Board 4, argued last night that 111th Street by Flushing Meadows Corona Park doesn't need a protected bike lane because Donald Trump will deport "all the illegals." City Council Member Julissa Ferreras-Copeland is now calling for Borough President Melinda Katz to remove Darby from the board.

DOT Compromises 111th Street Redesign to Win Francisco Moya’s Support
DOT has released a watered-down version of its redesign for 111th Street in Corona. The compromise has won over Assembly Member Francisco Moya, who had withheld his support for the original plan, saying 111th Street needed to retain more car lanes.

After Hit-and-Run Death, Queens Pols Blame “Distracted Pedestrians”
A hit-and-run driver killed 17-year-old Ovidio Jaramillo at the intersection of Northern Boulevard and Junction Boulevard in Jackson Heights on Tuesday night. In response, Queens electeds held a press conference today at the site of the crash, where they called for laws and education campaigns to stop "distracted pedestrians."
