Eyes on the Street: The Queens Boulevard Bike Lane Reaches Rego Park
The next segment of the Queens Boulevard safety overhaul is well underway. For the third summer in a row, DOT crews are laying down green paint for bike lanes on the Queens Boulevard service roads and expanding pedestrian space in the medians.

Queensbridge Park Greenway Path Looking Great — Except for the Illegal Parking
Earlier this week, new pavement and bike lane markings went down on the path connecting the western Queens waterfront to Queens Plaza. The path is still cluttered with illegally parked cars, but that's about to change, according to DOT.

Queens CB 11 Chair Asked DOT to Scrap Northern Blvd Bike Lane That Her Board Endorsed
Board chair Christine Haider sent a letter to DOT attempting to negate CB 11's full board vote for a protected bike lane on part of Northern Boulevard. DOT says it's moving forward with the project.

Queens CB 11 Plans Secret Meeting to Delay Northern Blvd Safety Fixes [Updated]
Earlier this year, Queens Community Board 11 voted for a DOT project to create several miles of protected bike lanes linking to the Joe Michaels Mile bike path. There were multiple public meetings about the redesign, but now members of the board are planning a closed meeting on Monday to hear objections to it.

Eyes on the Street: Introducing the 111th Street Protected Bike Lane
This just in: DOT crews are laying down green paint on the new 111th Street bike lane next to Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Work on the project started back in April, and new stripes have been in place for weeks, but until now people were still parking in the bike lane. With this green coat, the whole project is snapping into place.

Driver Kills Senior on Jamaica Ave., One of the Most Dangerous Streets for Walking in Queens
A tow truck driver fatally struck Donna Hahl in a crosswalk. Motorists have killed at least 15 people walking on Jamaica Avenue since 2009.
