The latest streets and transportation news from Streetsblog NYC.

It started on Friday afternoon (naturally) with Mayor Adams’s announcement that he would erase three blocks of the Bedford Avenue bike lane — which his DOT only completed late last year — on the grounds that it is unsafe.

Then he ramped it up with another propaganda video depicting bike riders — not parents who leave their kids off in the middle of the street and tell them to run into traffic — as the villains.

This comes after six weeks of criminalizing cycling and, more recently, pushing for bike speed limits before he even gets around to slowing down cars.

New York voters have increasingly been rejecting Adams, so now he’s on a revenge tour, embracing the fever dreams of his beloved Republican party. He’s been quick to complain about politicians who will say anything to get elected, but now this guy is willing to do anything if it could possibly widen the narrowest of chances he has of retaining Gracie Mansion in November.
