The latest streets and transportation news from Streetsblog NYC.

Mayor Mamdani has made it a point to re-start the projects his predecessor stymied … except for Bedford Avenue, a notable exception.

Streetsblog reporter Sophia Lebowitz visited the corridor recently and found an unprotected “bike lane” that does little but serve as overflow parking for scofflaws.

It’s a fatality waiting to happen, and one man alone — the mayor — has the power to fix it.

Check out Sophia’s full report from Bedford Avenue below — along with City Council Transportation Committee Chair Shaun Abreu on what to expect from this week’s big e-bike hearing, which we’re affectionately referring to as “Super Bowl Wednesday,” and the latest on the horrific Midtown hit-and-run crash that killed a 51-year-old cyclist on Monday.
