Eyes on the Street: SUV Driver Crashes Into Ambulance at 71st and Broadway
Reader Liz Patek sends in these photos of a crash at 71st and Broadway last night. According to witnesses she spoke to, the driver of the car with the smashed-up front T-boned the ambulance. It seems that, miraculously, no one was seriously hurt. NYPD's public information office had no information on the crash, but it appears as though the ambulance driver was traveling northbound on Broadway or Amsterdam and struck by the SUV driver heading westbound on 71st.

Amidst Tabloid Attack on Bicycling, Another Child Killed By Reckless Motorist
Update: The Post and DNAinfo have identified the victims as Ariel Russo, 4, and her grandmother, Katia Gutierrez. The driver has been named as Franklin Reyes, 17. Correcting information released earlier today, NYPD now says Reyes has a record of one arrest, and it was not for robbery, according to the Post.

By More Than 2-to-1, CB 7 Supports Columbus Avenue Bike Lane Extension
Last night, Manhattan Community Board 7 signaled its support for an extension of the Columbus Avenue protected bike lane -- which currently runs one mile, from 96th to 77th Streets -- north to 110th Street and south to 69th Street [PDF]. The 26-11 vote (with one abstention) was a much wider margin than CB 7's 23-19-1 vote in favor of the initial Columbus Avenue bike lane segment back in 2010.
