Lots of public meetings this week about street safety and transit improvements in various stages of development. The one where you can have the most immediate impact: Tonight, the Manhattan Community Board 6 transportation committee considers a DOT proposal for a safer route to the East River Greenway in Midtown.

- Today: The Department of City Planning will discuss its draft recommendations for the Western Queens Transportation Study [PDF], covering Astoria and Long Island City. 4:30 p.m.
- Also Today: The Manhattan Community Board 6 transportation committee will consider a revised plan from DOT for a two-way bike path on East 37th Street. 7 p.m. (The full board could also take up the issue at its meeting on Wednesday at 7 p.m.)
- Tuesday: New York City College of Technology hosts a symposium on Downtown Brooklyn that features a panel on rethinking Jay Street. 6 p.m.
- Also Tuesday: DOT and MTA host the second of two initial workshops on Select Bus Service between Jamaica and Flushing. 6 p.m.
- Wednesday: Join Riders Alliance for a training on how to work with elected officials for better transit, featuring Andrew Gounardes, general counsel and senior policy advisor to Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams. 6:30 p.m.
- Thursday: Former Lieutenant Governor Richard Ravitch sits down for a conversation with WNYC Senior Editor Andrea Bernstein at the New York Transit Museum in Downtown Brooklyn. 7 p.m.
