The good news is that Saturday’s Summer Streets was not entirely ruined by over-policing. But there were still too many security chokepoints to yuck the yum of participants in what should be a joyous car-free day.

But Community Board 6 member Jason Froimowitz offers the Mamdani administration a third way: Yes to security, but no to cops standing around collecting overtime or, worse, sitting around inside idling cars.
