Mayor Mamdani and Gov. Hochul’s bus rapid transit plan listed five priority BRT corridors for the city — none of which were in Manhattan.

Now a community board on Manhattan’s east side is pitching the city and state to add First and Second avenues to the list.

“This is the busiest bus route in the entire United States,” said Barak Friedman, a member of the Manhattan CB6 Transportation Committee told Streetsblog. “If any route is deserving of bus rapid transit, it’s this one.”
