The latest streets and transportation news from Streetsblog NYC.
Today’s newsletter is, unfortunately, all about death and dying. After three cyclists (and a pedestrian) were killed by four separate hit-and-run drivers last week, Transportation Alternatives put together a “die-in” for Wednesday. We covered it extensively, both sharing one victim’s moving speech, and also leading today’s headlines with both the rally and the latest embarrassment from anti-bike talk show host Brian Lehrer.
In addition, we have a great story from Sophia Lebowitz about how the DOT’s W. 72nd Street safety project might get delayed because … well, not for the usual reason that a community board didn’t like it. It’s a must-read.
There’ll be more news later, so check back on the homepage, which is always there for you.

The city’s much-anticipated program to require speed-limiting devices inside the cars of repeatedly reckless drivers will launch next year, though questions remain.
