Streetsblog Network: No Way to Build a Sidewalk

11:48 AM EST on December 12, 2008

Today on the Streetsblog Network, we check in with the good people at Broken Sidewalk in Louisville, KY, who are talking about — you guessed it — sidewalks. More specifically, how poorly constructed they are. Imagine the outcry that would ensue if motorists were expected to put up with similar obstructions in their path of travel.

In Kansas City, MO, KC Light Rail is hopping mad that there are no items related to public transportation on that city's infrastructure-stimulus wish list, and very few on the state's:

Our only hope is that the next transportation funding bill levels theplaying field so that all modes are competitive and get the samefederal match.

Plus: some interesting ruminations on a decline in US traffic fatalities from The Bellows, a memorial to a slain NYC bus driver from TransitBlogger, and a follow-up on the California town that tried to ban road bikes from a popular route, from Cyclelicious.

More good stuff coming over the feed all the time.
