The latest streets and transportation news from Streetsblog NYC.

It’s a funny thing — Lower Manhattan pols want a protected bike lane to link the very popular bike lane on the Brooklyn Bridge to the Hudson River Greenway. But for some reason, they don’t want it on Chambers Street, which data show is the route that cyclists are already using, albeit unsafely.

We also have an opinion piece by Downtown flaneur Joseph Tedeschi trying to bring some sanity to Canal Street.

Meanwhile, Comptroller Mark Levine wants the city to bring some sanity to the outdoor dining permitting process.

Plus other news to set you up for a great weekend. See you at the Bike Jumble on Saturday?
