This is an eye-witness report about the DNAinfo article “Police Officer Injured in Central Park Scooter Crash”.

    A jogger wrote:
“I was there running at the time. I actually almost got killed by this scooter, I am pretty sure I would actually be dead had I been 50 feet further ahead. The scooter came from behind me VERY FAST and swerved in front of me into the running lane, then swerved back into the traffic lane but the left back wheel came off the ground. Then he swerved back left (probably over compensated to avoid flipping over) and ran straight into the pole, which flew straight into the air. The scooter was then on its left side. It took me about 5 seconds to reach him, but by then someone else was already trying to open the door. I stayed to see that the driver was alive. He looked pretty stunned. My question is what the hell happened behind for this cop to end up in this situation? As I said, I feel lucky to be alive. Of all things I thought I could possibly be hit by in CP, this was not one of them…”
