The latest streets and transportation news from Streetsblog NYC.

In Hoboken, Mayor Ravi Bhalla is showing what leadership on street safety is. Starting on Oct. 1, the Mile Square City will use cameras to keep bike lanes clear on its main commercial strip. We sent Kevin Duggan out there for a “before” story (and a great sandwich at Vito’s).

Also in today’s newsletter: Two views on the Brooklyn Maritime Terminal “vision plan” — from one supporter and one foe on the task force that recently advanced Mayor Adams’s vision.

Oh, speaking of the mayor — he’s now officially “soon-to-be-former Mayor Adams,” thanks to Sunday’s announcement that he’s bailed from his crippled re-election plane (see graphic below!).

And, in tragic news, another cyclist was killed by a hit-and-run driver. We’ll be following that story today.
