As they return to in-person classes on Monday, New York City public school children are at greater danger than they were just one day earlier, thanks to the increase in car and bus driving that historically has begun after the first day of classes.
We need to change the way we think about kids and about our cities. We need to think of kids as full members of society and we need to design our neighborhoods for kids to have full, rich childhoods that let them grow into well-rounded members of our communities.
