The latest streets and transportation news from Streetsblog NYC.

It initially started as a series of Streetsblog investigations and coverage of the state Department of Transportation’s plan to build a road parallel to the Cross Bronx Expressway — a roadway that everyone knows would bring traffic and death to the long-suffering borough.

But today, that coverage and focus has led to a huge victory for the livable streets movement: The state DOT has backed down and will not expand the Cross Bronx.
