DOT: Second Ave Gap Will Be Filled In…At Some Point

A Manhattan community board committee unanimously approved the Department of Transportation's long-awaited plan to fill in the hated gap in Second Avenue's protected bike lane.

Removing cars and trucks from 42nd Street and replacing buses with a modern, low-flow, light-rail line would allow the full width of this crowded street to be used for a richly landscaped greenway and sustainable transport.
