Leonardo DiCaprio Rides Citi Bike With Extraordinary Sense of Purpose

Somewhere in SoHo... Photo: ##http://fan-girl.org/2013/07/leonardo-dicaprio-rides-a-citibank-bike-in-soho-ny/##Fan Girl##

Everything I want to say about this event is in the headline. Enjoy 26 more photos of Leo riding a Citi Bike over at Fan Girl.

  • Bruce Nourish

Look at him, begriming NY’s streets with that totalitarian bicycle.

  • carma

    Cool indeed.

  • anon

Nice….looks like he’s coming right off the sidewalk…

  • Well if that is a cigarette in his hand, add smoking to the easy things to do by Citibike! (And you can’t do that in the subway)

  • Rider

Why isn’t the NYPD staked out on that sidewalk? Do they not know how many tickets Leo could afford?

  • Sam Joslin

It’s the hat. The hat makes all the difference.

  • anon

Most of the pics show him riding on the sidewalk. Very bad example.

  • Eric

Yeah but maybe it’s his first time riding in a while and he just need to get to a curb? Also, he’s famous, he can get away with it unlike the rest of us sadly.

  • Joe R.

It personally doesn’t bother me.The sidewalk he’s riding on isn’t that crowded. As I’ve said before, sidewalk cycling bans in NYC should be more selective. In midtown during the day it makes sense to keep bikes off sidewalks. In the outer boroughs, or later in the day in Manhattan, it really doesn’t. If cyclists stick to certain rules when riding on the sidewalk I’m not seeing why space can’t be shared most of the time. The main rules should be go around pedestrians, don’t expect them to get out of your way, and ride at a speed inversely proportional to the density of pedestrians.

  • Guest

Maybe, but the pedestrians on that sidewalk look completely unfazed.

I’m not saying sidewalk riding is a good thing, but it’s far from the problem its portrayed to be in the tabloids and certainly not worthy of a criminal summons.

  • Daphna

Other than Dorothy Rabinowitz and other bike haters, most pedestrians are completely unfazed about sharing space with bicyclists. Most people can accurately sense that bicyclists are very vulnerable and that bicyclists must take care not to hit anything or risk hurting themselves; so most people rightly sense that they are in no danger from a bicyclist. The bike haters try to paint a false picture of bicyclists being able to bully and menace people which is not realistic given bicyclists’ vulnerability.

  • Warren Bloom

What study are you quoting? I support bike equality on the road, but NEVER on the sidewalk.

  • ADN

Not to mention the potentially Muslim woman wearing the head covering standing behind Leo. NYPD could have a field day here.

  • Joe Enoch

Dorothy Rabinowitz sees a terrorist in this photo. Can you guess who it is?

  • Anonymous

On a sidewalk, on a ped crossing, on a sidewalk…. If this was a car, everyone here would be screaming bloody murder!
And this right after an article on NYPD being biased against bicycles , which they are, but it shows that they are not the only ones with a bias.

As a citibiker myself, It is very concerning to see so many citibikers going against the flow. I had hoped they would be more civilized.

Tonight: Tell CB 2 Why Bike-Share Belongs in SoHo and the Village

There is nothing exceptional or interesting about the sight of cars parked in front of a New York City residence. But I’m running this dull photo anyway, because this is basically the same condition that has irritated some residents in downtown Manhattan neighborhoods about bike-share. Instead of cars going in between the traffic lane and […]
