Anyone have information or the presentation that was presented to Manhattan CB3 last night on bikeshare?

  • Yes, I’ll have a report later today. Basically, DOT showed a preliminary station map for the district, the committee said it looked good and offered a few suggestions to add or subtract stations, and DOT is looking at a July launch for the system.

The NBC and Post articles seem to describe two different accidents.  According to NBC, the bike set off from the street near the curb and was hit by the motor vehicle.  According to the Post, the bike was riding on the sidewalk and suddenly swerved into traffic.

Only witnesses can distinguish between the two versions of events.  If this were at night and no one was around, the driver would just make the Post claim and that would be the end of it.  I wonder if witnesses were interviewed by the police?

  • @f9b2cb395abd5a101456b3b0a40912e1:disqus Note how the NBC reporter got information from witnesses at the scene without any filtering from NYPD. The Post, on the other hand, got their info from “cops and witnesses.” The only witness directly cited in either story who says the victim “came out of nowhere” is the driver. Good enough for NYPD to call it a day, it seems.
